 E-Mail List Service Policy

Many of our customers avail themselves of mass email capabilities for newsletters, sale announcements and other general notices. We make the Mailman list mailing system available for your use at very reasonable rates, subject to the following rules, operational policies and management requirements:

  1. List Software Allowed on BusinessNet: Customers MAY NOT install mailing list or email marketing software packages of their own creation or purchased from others. We provide the Mailman mailing list system for your use.
  2. Remote List Hosting Services: If you use a remotely hosted list management service or software on your personal computer to advertise a website hosted by BusinessNet, you must still conform to the mailing list source and management policies in this document.
  3. Mailing List Source: You may not use a purchased, leased, acquired, or borrowed list. The only source of email addresses that is acceptable is described in the next paragraph.

  7. Bounce Processing: After a message bounces back once with two permanent failures such as "user unknown" or similar, that address must be permanently removed from your list. Mailman will do this automatically when properly configured. We also encourage use of Mailman's "soft unsubscribe" capabilities, i.e., deletion of an email address after 3 soft bounces such as Out Of Office, No Longer Here, etc.
